New Leather Holster Break In Woes

OK, I picked up a REALLY NICE De Santis Dual Angle Hunter holster for my .44 mag. It was made specifically for my Ruger BUT it's tight as hell to get out. What can I do to soften the leather on the inside?

Wrap your pistol in plastic wrap (to protect the finish and make it just a little thicker. Then dunk the holster in hot, hot, hot (not boiling) water and shove the pistol in. Rub the outside of the holster briskly and it will mold the now soft leather to the pistol. Once it's dry - it'll be hard again, and the plastic wrap made it just thick enough to remove easily, but still stay in place.

There are also various sprays and creams made that can help strech/mold leather. I've never used them with a holster, though, and it's going to cost money. Any leather-goods store should have 'em, I can't remember the names off the top of my head.

Time and use is the best way to do it. In a hurry, try the above. I have never resorted to such techniques. I just massage it with my hands, put the weapon in and use it. Keep the weapon in the holster for a few days. But above all, use it. Make the weapon safe, face a safe direction and simply draw and re holster a bunch. I once had a brand new holster issued for a LE program that I could barely strap. Went to the range and midway through day two, about 300 presentations and re holsters, it was like a fine glove.

This may be a retarded idea for a holster, but shaving cream use to work real well on my baseball glove. I'd look into it more before I tried this though.

Shaving cream?? I dunno about that. It never made my baseball glove soft(er) ...

Seems it's loosening up, all it took was watching the Colts and the Pats. Manning gets the snap and help from the zebras he gets drawn on. :) GREAT holster.
