IN case you hadn't heard, General Pace has been nominated as the new chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and if/when confirmed, will be the first Marine to hold the Post!
Quite exciting from the green side, and even as a squid myself, its about time the Corps got a chance to run things!

I had the chance to hear the General speak at the USNI Forum 2004 this past September about transforming the military bureaucracy to a more cross-cultural one, in the vein of the Goldwater/Nichols act that brought in the era of jointness. Except now, exchanges would be inter-departmentmental (i.e. doing tours with State, CIA, etc) . If nothing else, he is quite the visionary and has been very effective in his current post of Vice-Chairman of the JCS...Should be an exciting period for our military!
