Guess I'm a little behind the curve. Latest ALMAR (October) says all Marines are to have each pair of the tan boots and one each of the cammies. I'm trying to find the best place (read: cheapest) to get the boots. I can only get one pair of boots at a time due to cost, so which ones are #1 priority? I haven't worn cammies since I was in the pool at MATSG, but I know it's just a matter of time before an event comes along where I'll need them! Also, are these boots authorized for wear with the flight suit? ICB's AND Jungles, or ICB's only?

yes, the directive says you have to have both kinds of boots...but honestly, when are you going to wear ICBs (unless you like them). Heck, it's hard enough to get one pair -- I've had a pair of jungles on order for a month now. Everyone I called said 6-8 wks backorder, so I'm still waiting. The cammies aren't that big a deal b/c the old cammies are authorized till something like '06, but they're easy to get anyhow. So naturally the Marine Corps in their infinite wisdom requires the boots which are impossible to get, yet extends the cammie deadline, which are easy to get.

We've had a couple instructors wear the tan boots with flight suits (looks goofy unless its a tan flightsuit), so I assume theyre authorized so long as theyre steel toe (easy to get-- no b/o)

Ya'll are lucky...we have to wear cammies when we stand SDO/WDO....and a lot of people are wearing chucks cause they cant get the boots.

I'm not sure what the exact address is, but there is a website where you can order both the cammies and the boots. Also, the last I heard, we were opening up the contract so that more suppliers could make the boots. As to when that will actually happen...no clue.

ya...its the "Chesapeake NEX"...or atleast thats what shows up on the credit card statement. Anyhow, that's who I've had mine on order from for a month, so just b/c the USMC website lists them, doesn't mean they have them in stock.

I had to order mine through the mail.

http://www.usmc-mccs.org/uniforms/index.htm is the official online uniform store

Notice: The Combat Utility Uniform in both Desert and Woodland are now available for order in limited quantities. Due to sale restrictions orders will only be accepted by phone. Only active and reserve Marines will be allowed to place orders for the new utilities and sales will be limited to one set of each, desert and woodland. The world wide toll free numbers needed to place your order are as follows.

• Continental United States, Guam, Hawaii, Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico 1 800 368-4088 • Local Virginia1 757-420-7348 • Alaska 1-800-368-4089 • Bahrain 800-447 • Canada 1-800-231-6289 • Germany 0800-82-93420 • Italy 8008-72441 • Japan 00531-11-4026 • Singapore 800-1100-198 • South Korea 008-1-800-958-8272 • Spain 900-98-1292 • United Kingdom 0800-89-4372 • Overseas Autovon 253-8494 • Fax Orders 1-800-551-6289 (CONUS)

Quantities are limited and sales will be on a first come first served basis. Back orders will not be taken, once the initial order of uniforms is exhausted sales will stop. Orders will resume as shipments are received at the uniform center, customers will be invited to call for availability.

Took about 3-4 weeks to get mine, but mail is slow in my part of the world, so I am sure it would be alot faster in CONUS.

I havn't checked it out personally, but my pool commander said you can order them (jungle boots) out of Leaterneck Magazine. Im not sure how fast you get them, or how much they cost though, I keep forgetting to look.

if you like boomer, i can look at 1/4 sales here to see if they have your size ... i recently paid $24 bucks for a pair of the almost new brown boots of the Gortex variety; they also have the Bates, same price. the boots are from recruits at Parris Island that don't make it through (they also have 'used' cammies) ... the boots are in good shape but sizes vary, with size 8-11 being generally the hardest to find.

my experience so far is we don't wear Cammies enough to justify $100 on a pair of brand new boots ...

Finishing up TBS now... and Bates ate up a bunch of my buddies' feet.

The Belleville ICB is approx the same price, sold at Mainside cash sales, and is pretty much indestructible. Danner had a USMC-approved tan boot on display at the Marine Expo last month, but they are expensive as hell and cost a ton of cash.

My .02- get the Belleville ICB- it will last you.
