Wow.

Japan has been denying their history in WWII for so long, and now this. It looks very good and wouldn't mind watching the subtitled version.

In recent years, more and more Japanese films about the war have been coming out. There were a series of Kamikaze pilot films in the '90s, and then last year one about a super-sub sent to sink a transport ship carrying the third atomic bomb (alternate history flick).

Are these attempts to come to grips with the reality of the war as it was for Japan, are they yet another handful of revisionist efforts, or do they represent a cultural shift in Japan that is more favorable to national self-image as an armed power?
