New b.p. standards?

I saw an AP new bulletin that according to a new government guideline, 120 over 80 is no longer optimal b.p. Anything from 120 over 80 to 140 over 90 is to be considered "prehypertensive." Just wondering out of curiosity, is this going to affect naval aviator medical standards so soon as well?

The AP report did make my day. Now I have to worry about "prehypertensive" disorder. Or PHD ;) I think they just want you to watch out a little bit more when you are in this range.

Sounds like such BS. People want to whine, moan, say how pitiful they are, and have Uncle Sam take care of their lazy a**es. Only they can't figure out what malady they have, so the doctors amongst them decided "OK, we're all prehypertensive!" Sheesh. Can't wait for the first study on these medications, if it hasn't already been done. Can we say "placebo effect?"

If God isn't a Penn State fan, than why is the sky blue and white?

Yeah, I was just amused at the thought that suddenly the gov decides to go an label a bunch of "ideal" bp people as UNHEALTHY you're ALL gonna die! Mine was 140/90 an year ago though, and I really had to chop back salt intake, etc.
