Netflix recommendations?

Started watching Chief of War (Apple TV) with Jason Momoa. It is set during the various Hawaiian kingdoms at the time of the arrival of white explorers. I know very little about this time in history, but the show is interesting and done entirely in the local language (ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi). If you don’t like subtitles it can be a bummer, but the production values are great and the story telling solid.

The classic 1988 British/American PBS series "Piece of Cake" has been posted on YouTube - upscaled and regraded and enhanced. An epic series based on the Derek Robinson novel.

I had just arrived in Norfolk in the Fall of 1988 after finishing the FRS in San Diego. Living in Ghent at the time. "Piece of Cake" premiered here in the US as weekly segments on Masterpiece Theatre.

I purchased the novel to read in the first month of my H2P cruise.

The series is incredibly well done and the production used most of the flying Spitfires at the time. The novel portrayed Hornet Squadron more accurate as flying Hurricanes.

Seriously good watching. Ideally with squadron mates over a case of beer or three.

Perhaps more amusing is the personality of the characters - most of which are easily represented in any military flying unit today!

I just starting watching this as well and have a similar ignorance of the history of Hawaii. It's really good. I enjoy the language, and the actors and actresses that are playing Hawaiian characters are are all Hawaiian (for the most part).

I wonder how true it is but, again, It's an interesting show and story. Jason Momoa definitely plays the reluctant hero well.
