Need Help Writing Waiver Letter

I went through MEPS fine and was disqualified because I used to be on medicine for Acid Reflux/ Gerd.

I need to write a superman statement saying its gone and how it wont affect me but need help initiating a waiver letter.

Any help/ suggestions would be great.
 
I am not that familiar with MEPS....your best bet would be to PM 'The Renegade'; he works there and appears to have a solid understanding of how things go, especially with respect to the MEPS waiver process.

Overall, it is my understanding that you will find that MEPS will let NOMI dictate whom they want to accept into the NA/NFO pipeline. I am guessing that your waiver package should go through NOMI. How long have you been off meds? Do you have any sort of statement (from your doc/gastroenterologist) which indicates that you do not have GERD?
 
I would see a specialist and have them write a letter stating you no longer need the medicine and that your digestive system, etc. functions fine w/o it. I have had to get several letters from specialists for my waivers. Once you get the letter, submit it to your officer recruiter and he/she will take it from there. I received waivers for a multitude of things. Many people said 'no' but it just takes one who says 'yes' and you're in. Good luck.
 
Thanks for the help guys. My recruiter told me to write a super man statement saying that I can function fine without it and i submit a letter from my doctor saying I have been off meds for a year to MEPS. I dont know what happened there.
 
Make sure the letter from your doc indicates that you have been symptom free for XX length of time. GERD is not a big deal. Lots of guys fly on prilosec. I did.
 
My OR told me not to submit anything beyond the minimum for now. I wrote a statement saying I'm symptom and medicine free several years and have not had any problems playing sports or doing any civilian flying.

I really hope that works. What are the chances of getting a waiver as a Pro Rec SNA still awaiting Final Select with a waiver for a prior case of GERD?
 
I did a big diet overhaul and gave up smoking. I will occasionally want buffalo wings and take a prilosec otc, but the last document prescription was issued in 2006 and expired in 2008. A year later I am med free and have been mostly symptom free.

Yes, that is what you say. I don't know of the chances of course, as per our PM. GERD shouldn't be a huge road block however.
 
Okay well I submit my statement saying I am clear of meds for several years, however, my doctor just sent a note supporting what I wrote do the Navy.

I guess I have to wait now to see if they request more information.
 
Okay, Bumed came back today with a waiver approved for Unrestricted Line/ Restricted Line and Supply Corps.

The waiver says: Code to Be assigned is HCB

N3M refers to NOMI. Ensure N3M letter is uploaded to O-Tools...

does this mean I'm cleared for flight?
