I"m pretty new to this whole ASTB scoring system, I just took it for the first time the other day and scored a 6/5/6. they said it was good for NFO, what do I need to be competitive for pilot?

The competitive profile for pilot changes all the time. When I applied, they wanted a 6/7/6 with at least a 50 OAR. You have to remember that it's not just your ASTB scores that count. While the test is very important, the board also looks at your GPA, leadership experience, recommendations, ect. They stress that selections are based on a "whole person concept." Take that for what it's worth.
