My hobby now is to park in the Veterans Only parking spot at Lowe's and just rip cigs all day while soaking up TYFYSs. Sometimes I make sure they notice my license plate that has an Air Medal on it (but that's just overkill really). It's better than free appetizers at Applebee's on Veterans Day honestly.

Hahaha thank god i have an early show time at the airport tomorrow and am not drinking anything right now……because i would have covered my iPad with it otherwise :)

And really, do vets really have to TYFYS to each other, I find the REALY uncomfortable.
I thought we did just fine telling each other war/sea stories.
"This is no shit,,,"

Yep. Or come back with “20 years Navy here” or “that’s awesome, I was Navy (too).”

I don’t ever resort to TYFYS- that’s a hallmark of people who don’t have anything better to say or want to brush you off and move on. If I bring up my service, it’s for a reason. I don’t wear it on my shirt or advertise it on my vehicle.

Growing up down under the "TYFYS" culture was completely foreign to me when I got here, and seemed even more bizarre once I joined.

I don't think I've ever said TYFYS to another vet; instead, I find the best thing to appreciate what they did is to ask them about their service.

That's what I try to say. Hell, All I really did was spend my time drinking beer and ending up married.
Contrary to the Boomer image, All I have is a couple of low key stickers on my car and several hats to keep the sun off my big head. Last time I tried buying any OohRah shirts I ended up with small sizes. My wife wears those around the house.
