Navy Reserve Intel O w/ Disability Rating

Hello all and thanks for taking the time to drop your thoughts in here. I served as an enlistedman and got out in 2016. Fast forward to today, i miss the boys, have a bachelors and am working on grad school. I'm mulling over going back as an Intel O because i feel that i have unfinished business with the Navy since i never got that side of the experience. The catch is i have a 100% rating from the VA due to service related injuries, I've seen some people talking about rejoining in the reserves with a rating, but nothing definitive. Is it worth doing? For the mustangs, do you enjoy the officer side and do you feel its impact has been a strong positive in your life? And if so, how do i go about it? Thanks again.

Anything greater than 30% has been considered a no-go for getting back in on the USN side, can say what the other services would say.

Until about a few years ago, anything over 30% VA disability was considered a no-go but that has changed.

For OP, in short, it really depends on what the condition or conditions/injuries are. Your 100% VA disability could be a series of minor things that have all added to 100%, or it's a single "full stop" condition that cannot be waived.

A local recruiter will be able to answer this for you when you discuss the specifics with them.

Has there been an update to the Navy Reserve's policy? Because previously there didn't really seem to be one, and they seemingly left it to the individual reserve centers who then changed their policy periodically. I say that as someone who saw first-hand folks with varying percentages of VA disability either get discharged or allowed to stay with no rhyme or reason other than timing and luck. One guy with 50% was kicked out while another with 80% was retained, and at the same reserve center.

As was already said, a local recruiter will hopefully give you the latest policy...if there is one now.
