Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
Why? You will be issued all the pt gear you need. Navy pt gear isn't exactly stylish and most people choose to buy the civilian equivalent when they are done with the training command.

Actually, here's my advice: if you really want Navy gear, ask your recruiter. Used to be, anyway that they had boxes of T-shirts, golf balls, mouse pads, etc. just lying around a back room somewhere. You should be able to pry something out of them.

Recruiters are the best kept secret for things like that. In college when you're strapped for cash, nothing says "class" like a banner of a hornet getting shot off a carrier hanging in your house. If you go there they'll hook you up with clothes, posters for pretty much any wall space, and usefull/less accessories. I assume it would lose its luster when you get in the fleet, I'm doing it while it's still cool. I know, I know, weep away A4s.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to walk out of my unit when I detach, with the 8'x15' "Join Our Frequent Flyer Program" (with 2 Tomcats in blower crossing over a CVN) poster in hand.......

My recruiter didn't have jack. I asked for something when it was raining one day just to cover my head and he handed me a newspaper.
All I got was a pen.

Did anyone else see the Navy times article re: PT gear? I think it was actually titled something like "cutlass and ball caps" or something. Well anyone the MCPON seems like he'll be gunning for a PT uniform soon. They had a trial run of some hideous yellow shirts and blue shorts in the paper.

Even though it's ugly as hell, why don't they just stick with the blue shorts/emblem shirt they give out during boot camp, OCS, at my NROTC indoc, etc.? There. I just saved the money a ton of time/money from having to come up with a new tshirt/shorts design.
