There will be NO accountability for the GS or the 0-6 in charge of the PPD/TMO Det. Fact. I had an incident that caused my family great hardship and was directly the result of the incompetence of the Corpus PPD department. I received my orders 6-months before the PCS NLT date and went to PPD to schedule an appointment. They pointed to a dry erase board and said they're only taking appointments for PCS dates 5 weeks out. Fine. I went back 7 weeks later and they said, "...only PCS dates 5 weeks out" as she absent-mindedly pointed to the same dry erase board. I went back 10 week prior to my PCS date and now they said that they're all booked up for moves for the next 12 weeks and that they would make an appointment to arrange a move for me.... 3 months from now. So what does a young LT do that has to PCS and can't get his stuff to his next duty station? "Pay for it yourself" is what they told me. My CO/XO could do nothing, the Base Commander could do nothing, and when we tried to talk to someone we would get the same DD Form something to fill out and even once they said, "...feel free to send it in, it won't do any good".

Eventually, 6 weeks to my report NLT to my next duty station I get a call and they say that someone cancelled and if I would like to take that shipping date. Sure, but it was next week and I would be sitting in an empty house for 5 weeks. I took it. What other option did I have?

Neither your CO nor the BASE CO could do anything? Who the hell do they work for that they're immune to O-5/O-6 pressure? Anywhere in the real world, calls from those types at least make an impression or get things moving.

"Pay for it yourself?!?" That's frickin' insane.

Since it got "resolved" I was glad to just get the hell out of there. We could do nothing about it and I would most likely would have come up with the Congressional Letter after settling in at my next duty station. And just because they "came through" it wasn't great. My wife was 5 months pregnant and they had to pack up anything we didn't want to move ourselves with nearly a month and a half left at my current duty station. So my wife, with a high risk pregnancy, was forced to sleep on our mattress on the floor and lived out of duffle bags. I had to rent a U-Haul for the mattress and in place household items. Not ideal because we had planned on driving together in one car and towing the other car. Now we had to fly my Dad down to drive the other car. Go Navy.
