Does the Naval Reserve hire just prior service pilots or do they take brand new guys as well(like the ANG or Air Force Reserve do?) Always wondered about that.

As I have recently spoken to the entire Reserve recruiting chain of command from the man on the street to BUPERS, I can tell you that the Naval Reserve has no program to bring in pilots from any source other than Naval Aviation. That's always the first thing they tell me before I go into a long explanation of how I want to fly on active duty and why they have a piece of that process.
