My AR-15 Gets Better and Better

So I upgraded my 20" "A4/HBAR" style AR-15 with some key components that make a real difference in competition and general all around use and accuracy at the range - I'm going to whole heartedly recommend the products and parts I used in my upgrade

The first is circular, vented, free float handguard from JP Rifles. Feels and handles amazing on my rifle - and although installation required a good many standard AR tools, the install was straighforward. Ths is one well built, well designed piece of kit! The 12 o'clock position of the handguard has provisions for a rail assembly that stays perfectly indexed to the flat top of the upper receiver!

The second was a low profile gas block with a rail to mount a backup iron sight (if I ever choose to get one). I learned the hard way the when installing new gas parts go ahead and replace the gas tube and don't try to salvage the existing one!

Last, a Surefire MB556K Muzzle Brake - Compensator. You have to feel the recoil reduction and shot to shot stability to believe it!

Nice AR! I like that muzzle brake quite a bit. Do you know how much longer it is (if any) over a standard A2 flash hider? I have an AR that needs to be a little longer...

XMID - If you have a barrel that needs to get over 16", you can pin/weld this baby on so it's permanent.

Caliber: 5.56 mm (.223)
Material: Heat-treated stainless steel
Length: 2.49 inches
Length added to wpn: 1.86 inches
Adapter threads: 1/2-28 (Mil-Spec)
Color: Black

It is louder than the standard A2 bird cage flash hider.

Brownells has it!

I wish I could afford a Schmidt and Bender! My scope is a Millett DMS-1 1-4x - a great value in a variable power tactical, illuminated rifle scope. 30mm tube, donut and dot type reticle. $200 bucks! Highly recommended! A little heavy - or heavier than the superior Schmidt and Bender. Still a great tactical/3-gun piece of glass!

Larue Mount!! The best, and LaRue is a great company to work with. Again, highly recommended!

The Surefire Muzzle Brake continues to amaze me. Why the Marine Corps insists on not using this technology on their outdated 20" M-16 is beyond me.

See the attached video for more info on the Surefire MB556K
