After your first fleet tour, will most tours following be on the same coast? For instance, if I end up on the East Coast for my first fleet tour, will I most likely spend the rest of my career on the East Coast, or will any duty station be available (needs of the Navy and availability set aside)? Does the Navy like to keep you relatively close to keep the cost of moving down?

Thanks for any info.

The navy doesn't care about saving money that much. If you have a preference, you can work it. One of the department heads has done his entire career here in San Diego, but rest assured, it was his choice. If you want to stay east coast, you can do everything in your power to do so, but keep in mind, nothing is guaranteed.
