I think it speaks volumes that the USAF 60 guard unit in NY is struggling to get people to join and the unit in Alaska is everybody's pipe dream. I would sell my soul for a full time guard job in Alaska.

Here is link to the Maryland Bill to control ammo mentioned above. Hey, the 2nd amendment to our constitution sez nothing about the right to have ammo, right?

http://mlis.state.md.us/2008RS/bills/hb/hb0517f.pdf

Note 1: Ammo for all handguns would be controlled, including .22 cal, and by extension .22 cal for long guns, for example.

Note 2: The list of controlled guns therein is very similar to the companion bill to prohibit ownership of assault rifles, however the M1 Garand being excluded in the ammo control bill. But 30,06 is controlled elsewhere so seems excluding M1 Garand ammo is moot.

Still looking for the link on DV. Was at a focus group meeting couple days ago, this was a hot topic, most all with the belief it is a good idea.

The Bill to prohibit ownership of "assault" weapons would require disposal by owners of all owned prohibited weapons by January 2011.

Enactment of the ammo bill is judged to be 50/50. DV as I understand has a slim chance. That said, it should give all a indication of the control that a lot of Pols would like to exercise over us po' folk.

Unrelated but speaking of control, Montgomery County MD is set to enact "regulations" prohibiting any propery owner to cut down a tree on their property without a permit. Intentions are to make MC "green" and permits to cut your trees will be few and far between. See last sentence penultimate para herein.
