I noticed that people speak of going to Vance AFB for primary training, but I was wondering if the Navy sends any SNA to Moody AFB in Georgia for primary flight school? I did a search but could not find the info. Thanks for your time. :) :) :)

My understanding is that all of the JSUPT is moving to just Vance. Im not sure if thats in effect or not. From the dudes ive talked to, the gouge is pretty much the same, just no Tweets.

That was my dream wing for primary. Didn't get it and was sent to Vance instead. To my surprise, I really enjoyed being there and loved the training as well. Moody has been closed to all the Navy studs since August or September of 2005. I know alot of guys here at TW-2 who went to Moody and really enjoyed it but too bad, it's closing it's door for JSUPT. I think they might be getting the A-10s back...not sure about that though.

The fact of the matter is that you will get different opinions from different folks who have been to AFBs for primary. Those who do well will say that it was great. However, those who didn't do so well or were the targets of the "needs of the navy" agenda, well, they mostly blame it on the "Air Force."

I have seen it first hand, a friend of mine rocked the program at Vance and ended up with some insanely high NSS of 66 or above...ended up getting E-2/C-2s (wanted jets). You can't imagine how bitter he was and somehow ended up blaming the fact that he was at Vance and didn't get jets for that reason. I guess the same thing almost happened to me but through some miracle ... The Vice was able to get me my first pick.

Yeah, Alot of guys that got 45's still though Vance sucked ass though. I dunno if you are actually flying at K-rock yet.. but... the Navy is just so much more fun, and more adult, and more.. human. I actually thought I liked Vance.. until I got to NASCC.

Poor guy  He still gets a chance to earn his Wings and fly for the Navy...for some reason, I just can't feel sorry for him.

I can imagine he'd be a little disappointed initially, but bitter? I hope he's over it, and enjoying the opportunity he has.

(ASSuming he hasn't been winged yet, in which case I hope he enjoys what he does.)

Yeah, the gouge on Moody above is solid. I am officially the last Navy stud to graduate from here, and will be selecting on March 10th. Regardless of how I end up, this place was not that bad and I don't regret coming here at all. The T-6 was a dream, and my class mates are all awesome. Sucks being the fish out of water, but you get used to it. Can't wait to see a NAvy base again, though. Good luck!

Getting near the end over here at k-rock....I, personally, enjoyed my time over at Vance and if I can, I would like to do an exchange tour with the USAF.

What's wrong with you?

yeah, I know alot of guys here at 21 think I'm nuts too but as a kid and mostly throughout college, I wanted to fly the F-15C .... :) I remember whenever spring break came along, I used to love going to Panama City but mostly to go over that bridge to Tyndall and that sign that read "Home Of Air Superiority" or something close to that. Alot of people might think it's childish but I really would love to do a tour with them....Heck, I'll even fly the Viper for a few years if they'd let me....First thing is first though, get winged and do what I love here in the Navy. Please don't get me wrong, I am very grateful and humbled to be where I am today but just something else I would like to do.

Don't be too down on the guy KBay. That pretty much describes all of us who get selected for E2/C2. I don't know anybody who puts down E2/C2 as their first choice. So anyone who ends up with it is going to have that initial disappointment just because they didn't get their first choice (even though in order to get E2/C2, you must have the NSS required for any other choice). The difference in us is the amount of time it takes us to get over it, or maybe even, as in my case, believe that it's probably the best thing that could have happened anyways. Fortunately, it didn't take me too long to do that, but I know some others that are in training with me who are still trying to come to terms with it. They will.

Now the people who DOR because they don't get what they want...... fire away!!! I've seen a couple of those. That makes me sick.

Now, easy there cowboy...I had enough problems learning the T-34 that I was scared ****less going rotary-wing...so it was my last choice. I was PRAYING that my NSS was good enough that'd they'd send me C-2/E-2 (knowing this is the "less desired" tailhooker). Alas, they sent me helos and I'm lovin' every second of it.

I also know a number of E-2/C-2 pilots who enjoyed getting selected to fly it. I think that if the carrier treated them a bit better, than it'd be more desirable to fly. The C-2 peeps out of Bahrain also said that didn't suck.

What was the final count of Navy guys that went through Moody? I can't say that I enjoyed my time there but for some reason I was glad I went. The T-6 was great, everything else(60 hour work weeks for 9 months), not so much.
