Military Airline Deal

I am buying a plane ticket for a friend of mine from Air Tran. In the buying section of the website it has a box you can check if the passenger is active duty military. Anyone have an idea of what kind of goodies you get from this? Hug from the flight attendants?

AirTran's policy is to upgrade active duty military on their flights if space in biz is available. They say they delete that info from the manifest prior to departure.

Whether you take advantage of this ... or are in uniform when you do it .... well, let the arguments begin (again).

Air Tran can be a great deal. I went to Cabo with some fellow JOs for a bachelor party (after having our 2 month old pre-approved leave chits cancelled last minute by our Opso, then re-approved by a cool CO, long story) on Air Tran, and we found fares for way less than anyone else. HOWEVER, it is no frills on all fronts. You might swing an upgrade, but that will bottom line will be a bigger seat.

As far as anything from Air Tran stews...gross...(and I was a regular at the Irish Rose in Waikiki when there WAS an Irish Rose in Waikiki...3 people on this board might understand)
