MEPS changes?

I will be going to MEPS sometime soon as part of my final documents since my physical will be expired. Anyway, the woman who handles all the paperwork told me that they don't do eye exams there and send everyone out for private optometry consults. I already have my private consult but was just wondering if this is true or if she is misinformed. Just curious.

I went to MEPS in Houston last year. To confirm what you heard, they send me down the street to a civilian optometrist. There weren't docs on staff to do the proper tests at MEPS. However, this is just the MEPS in Houston. Others may be different.

I spent all day yesterday at MEPS... God was that long... That was at Fort Dix, NJ and we did everything right there, including the eye exams... it must just differ from place to place

Yeah, when I went before we did them there but they messed up my visual acuity hardcore and I didn't pass their depth perception test so I went to a private eye doc. At least if things go poorly there again I will have the private consult out of the way.
