yeah, but LASIK's chances of healing properly are a lot less.

WIldflyin- I read your profile and it seems that you need PRK. When are you going to do it, and is your OSO confident you'll get the waiver? Thanks.

On the matter of medical background checks, your physical and medical questionare are all they have to go on, remember medical history isn't like your driving record, there is no national database, if they want to request medical history they have to rely on you to provide the physicians name and addresses. Bottom line, say no to everything that isn't going to be obvious to the flight surgeon, this is even the advice I was given by an OSO!

Am i correct in assuming minor problems which are only detected after you're sent through the pipeline are more likely to be waivered?

I know an AF EM who works in their med department, and he's told me some USAF pilots have gotten waivers for some FUNKY issues, while wannabe pilots are often taken down for those same issues. This true of the Navy as well?

If you lie on your medical forms you can find your self looking at UCMJ issues if they find out and want to be hard a$$es. Just keep that in mind when you make your decisions on what to include or not. When I went through the flight Phys. for the Marine application the flight doc told me he wished we had spoken before I filled it out. I was able to get waivers for hay fever but it was an extra step that I didn't need to take had I kept my mouth shut.
