the happy dance!
I was informed as I purchased my uniform that I can wear the National Defense Medal or pizza stain as they call it, with my dress blues for commissioning. Just curious, should I get it anodized or not or does it matter? Is anodized only authorized for certain ceremonies/uniforms? And when I purchase it, does it comes with everything to attach the medal or do I need to purchase that as well? I don't mean to come of ignorant or dumb, I'm just new to this and trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for your help gents.

Annondized or not is personal choice though all must match I like the non annodized myself. They seem to stand out a little more. If you are commisioning wiht others you may want to be all uniform on which you choose.
Congratulations

You're wearing full dress blues for commissioning? I've only ever worn service dress blue for anything, and it was the ribbon, not the medal.

Since you have only one ribbon, you don't need to worry about mounting or anything. Just pin that sucker on there, centered on the pocket, between the 1st and 2nd buttons.

Jesus dude, he's a Marine, pay attention.

BTW, on the Navy side, it would entirely appropriate to wear medals. It's a COMMISSIONING.

Are you sure you're supposed to be wearing medals and not just ribbons?

It is pretty much standard for fall and winter commissionee's (navy side) to wear SDB's with large medals. Infact, I have worn that uniform with medals more often than without.

Speaking of medals... Anyone know if we will be able to (our decision) be able to trade out the GWOT-EX for the ICM? Or are we/will we be stuck with what we have?

The rules state you can't have both for the same operation which for me would be OIF1 so that's why I asked. To be honest... I think they are just going to give it to everyone that has served in Iraq regardless of the GWOT. Kind of a freebie (well not like not earned) much like the GWOT-SV has become.

Just curious, why is it that you can't have both? And whats the difference between GWOT and GWOT-SV/EX? Sorry, once again, for sounding dumb.

EDIT: I Just found what I was looking for... Thank God for Yahoo.
