This should also be a consideration for anyone who obtains a concealed weapon permit or similar license even though your local jurisdiction may not require any competence testing to get the permit. Even if you happen to carry a pistol without "authorization" it is important if the issue ever gets to court, to dismiss any questions about your competence by demonstrating a level of competence and familiarity with a government recognized combat pistol testing standard.

This can't be stressed enough for anyone who relies on a firearm for defense or carries concealed. More often than not, lawyers and the DA will be your enemy if you choose to defend yourself. This of course depends where you live, etc, as well as if you are a man or a woman. Sounds silly doesn't it?

Training, training, training. Always have your sh!t together and a good lawyer if you're serious. It's always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, that's for sure.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a private lesson coming up and I am signed up for the NRA Personal Protection course in Feb. which qualifies me for the CO CCW permit. Something like 8 hours in class with a LEO on deadly force and 4 hours on the range. The course is a cert in firearms training from the NRA which CO recognizes as advanced training (LEO training, military cert. are the only other ways to get it). I'm not getting the CCW permit because I don't need to take my gun the the bar (really retarted idea) or school.

A lot of people don't know when they can use deadly force as a civilian. I am a member of XDtalk forums and some of the gun nuts think that a fist fight is time to pull out a gun. They say paranoid things like "I think I avoided a mugging today when I brandished my gun" because some guy was walking to close to them.

I don't feel the need to take my gun to the mall and worry about if it is showing or taking the time to prep in the morning. And keeping it in the car all the time is a good way to get you gun stolen (if you don't put it in some kind of safe of lockbox in the car). On the other hand, I don't have a old lady or kids yet so maybe that will be a consideration one day. I would definetly get a CCW if I was in LE and locking people up that I might see back out on the street one day. But it all just seems like a pain in the ass.

For now I will rely on my ninja skills to whoop ass. I am pretty good with a bow staff, as most of you probably are as well. But, I was informed yesterday by the PD that I have to register my hands as a deadly concealed weapon.

P.S. - I can lift a man two inches off the ground by placing a front kick to his scrotum! :D

It's tough for military to carry too much anyway. Anytime you even might want to go onto the base you've got to leave the guns at home.

I got my CCW mainly to make going back and forth to the range more convenient. I really don't go that many places I want to carry anyway.

Now that I've moved again I need to get the Texas permit anyway, which will be nice since Texas has reciprocity with a fair number of other states.

Sounds like a bunch of posers. Someone like that would get eaten alive if they said that at AR15.com.

Yeah, I have no need for a CCW, because I'm prepared to defend myself with the strength of a grizzly, the reflexes of a puma, and the wisdom of a man. :D
