Interval ... interval ... interval.
Lead rolls ... 2,3,4 keep driving/turning ....
2 rolls .... 3,4, keep driving/turning ....
3 rolls .... 4 keeps on keepin' on/driving ....
4 rolls ....
EVERYONE's in the run ....
Just about as fast as you read this .... you get @ 20 degrees split on the roll-in btw each bird .... no gunner in the world can track 2 of you ... let alone 4 of you ... :)
Enjoy.
But of course if you happen to be "tail-end Charlie" on a multi-plane strike, not only are the bad guys alerted and up to speed by then, but also they might even anticipate and guess at your prospective roll-in point.

Thus, the beleaguered last guy rolling in on a multi-plane strike might by then be just a little distracted from his aim point by a few of those pesky tracers zipping by. Let's see, what was it? About 6 or 7 rounds per tracer? Yikes!

WOW!

I wonder how long that exposure is? Not long enough to make feel warm and fuzzy about flying through there...no way to jam a bullet.

We practiced jinking in the dive, but for decent computer tracking, or even a decent manual run, we still needed about 3-5 seconds of predictable, steady state flight, so the shooters that knew what they were doing could anticipate that.

And "jinking" ... IN the run??? You really can't do that in a 45-60 degree visual dive unless you want to come back tomorrow and do it again ... :)

Stable run = good tracking = good hits.

That's one of the "breaks of Naval Air" ...
