Looking for interviews from USN Supply Officers

Hooyah Silent Service !

I am an active duty submariner Petty Officer Second Class stationed in Groton, CT. I have been in the Navy 3yrs and already deployed twice, once aboard USS California and again with my boat USS North Dakota which I am a plank owner. I am a Fire Control Technician (weapon type of fire control) and my goal is to finish my degree within the next couple of months. Before the Navy I worked for Automatic Data Processing (ADP) as a Banking Rep, a large credit union as a Member Specialist, and held different retail positions at WalMart and a grocery store during high school. My degree is in technology and management from Excelsior College with a GPA of 3.4. I have in depth knowledge of banking processes and regulations, certified payroll professional, strong customer experience with individuals and businesses.

I am in the process of taking the OAR, and putting my package together. Meanwhile, I am looking for supply officers that are willing to give me an interview that I can use in my package. I will try to get one from my squadron supply officer as well, but the more the merrier. I am currently in Newport RI doing an advance course for my rate.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Walk over to the supply corps school and see if someone can help.

Resurrection. I am seeking a SUPPO to interview with as well, my recruiter isn't having any luck. I've got a possible Skype one, but I would prefer face-to-face. I would be willing to drive to California and Nevada. I'm located in Northern Arizona.

Thank you.

I'd say look up your local reserve center:
http://www.public.navy.mil/nrh/Pages/default.aspx

Unfortunately there aren't any phone numbers or contact information on that webpage (?!?). But once you find the ones closest to you, google or the facebook should turn up a phone number (i.e. https://www.facebook.com/NOSCLASVEGAS/ ). I'd call them up, tell them you're working with a recruiter for an officer package and would like to get an officer interview with a supply officer. There are plenty of reserve SUPPOs around and they should be able to put you in contact with one who'd be willing to do that. It doesn't have to be on their drill weekend either.

Thank you, I will try this. Will I be able to find an upper Officer this way? My recruiter says appraisals from any lower than O6 are not beneficial.

They should be able to find an O6 SUPPO. Those exist in the reserves, even if it’s one who used to drill at that NOSC but transferred to a different billet after their last promotion.

Double check with your recruiter that it’s ok if a reservist does the interview (as opposed to active duty/full time). I doubt it should make a difference, but that’s a good question for your recruiter.

O-6 SUPPO's at a NOSC are rare, the NOSCs we dealt with at our NRD the highest ones were O-5, I am sure there are ones around the area, they might just be assigned to drill out of some other location.

Yep, we've had a couple make O-6 at the end of their O-5 tour (small-medium NOSC, just on the other side of the country from LadyAsh). Then they move into an O-6 billet that might be at a unit at one of the motherships like NOSC D.C., Norfolk, or San Diego (at least falls under said NOSC on paper, when it comes to tracking flu shots and GMT).

He has said a reservist is just fine. But he isn't having any luck finding me one either way. I'm trying your method now.

An O-5 interview is fine. It is a small community. O-6s are preferable, but people get it if you can't track one down.

Isn't your degree criminal justice? It will be very difficult, even more than SWO getting selected even if you have interview sheets from O-5/O-6 SUPPOs. I'm not saying "don't apply", but rather the odds are not in your favor without a STEM or Business degree.
