"The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors" - James Hornfischer (Leyte Gulf, Battle of Samar, destroyers vs. battleships)
Just finished this book and wanted to second the recommendation. IMHO, this is one of those books that every unrestricted line officer should read.

Details a major WW2 naval battle from both surface warfare and aviation perspectives, and digs into the intricacies of command, leadership, following orders, teamwork, performance under attack, and responsibility to your men.

Won't put you to sleep either.
