Long Range Pistol Shooting

You both brought a smile to my face talking about free pistol and 10M airpistol. Especially about not shooting the bench picking up the pistol! My first exposure to a Hammerli was about '56 when I had the opportunity to shoot alongside an Olympic medalist name of Offut Pinion. He was a naval officer and I regret I can't recall his rank. I watched him shoot and asked some questions during breaks. He invited me to shoot a few rounds from his Hammerli, the first one I had ever seen. As I presented the pistol on target in the current fashion (raising it up and then down on target) it went off. I hadnd't even touched the trigger yet. Mr. Pinion said I may have brushed it and to try it again. Same thing happened. Then he told me the trigger weight was at minimum and be careful raising it and stop at the bottom of the target. Went OK from there but I doubt I shot better than a 7?
Airgun came into my competition stable in northern Minnesota when I was running an air taxi up there. Local club had weekly indoor shoots with .22 and airgun so my wife and I got into regular participation. I taught/coached her to a spot on the US International Team and she did very well. Set several national records, won the US Ladies International title, made the USA Team and traveled all over the world for matches. Got her International Distinguished badge for winning Games of the Americas. Her name is Judie Kemp. She had Hammerli's and Feiwerkbaus. We've been divorced for 20 years now and she quit shooting after her Romanian coach wrecked her shoulder with his methods.
When we were on a hot streak I had dreams of her and me being the first husband and wife team to win the Nationals...... Oh well...
