Living Soldier possibly to be nominated for Medal of Honor

I'll believe it when it happens. This isn't the first time word's gone around that someone might receive the MoH who's lived to tell about it, then...nada.
I know we've had discussions 'round here about awards standards nowadays. The bullshit about 'well, this isn't that kind of war' rankles a good bit. I find it hard to believe that with some of the vicious fighting that's gone on in Fallujah, Ramadi, the Korengal, etc, that there haven't been any living worthy recipients. Likewise the rumors that several nominations have been derailed/downgraded because the nominees might not have been otherwise model soldiers/Marines/what have you (liberty incidents, etc), which is such craven PC horseshit as to - almost - be beyond belief.
What's truly amazing to me is that many people in the higher links of the chain, up to and including Sec. Gates and President Bush, have made the same observations... yet still nothing changes.
With all the talk about war fatigue and whatnot... these wars nowadays don't need fucking sound bites and managed messages nearly as much as we need to let the public know about some heroes.

I'll bet it has to do with an engagement at either Restrepo, Wanat or Keating. (I think I have all my bases covered with those 3)
National Geographic is about to release what looks to be a great documentary about Restrepo. I think on the 12th. It won "Best" Documentary at Sundance this year.

While the award hasn't been officially announced yet it looks like SSG Sal Giunta of Battle Co. 2nd BN (ABN) 503rd INF will likely be the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor since Vietnam. Not sure who leaked it but I found it on Blackfive.
