Likelihood of an unscheduled board

Hello!

I have cleared all waivers, and my application is ready to be submitted to the IWC board for IP and CW. The next scheduled IWC board meeting is set to convene on 30JUNE25.

I am curious about something my recruiter mentioned. He indicated that there *could* be an unscheduled IWC board before 30JUNE25, if there are enough applicants submitted.

Has anyone heard of this happening? What was their experience or someone else's experience in a similar situation?

The TLDR: It can happen.

The CNRC board schedule is merely place holders and boards can meet before, on, or after the listed board date.

There is also immediate selection (I select) for applicants who meet the criteria. I think there’s immediate selection for CW but I’m almost certain there isn’t one for Intel, without me checking the PA.

I have seen boards being created “last minute” based on needs and making recruiting mission, though it’s not too common. That is a big part why the I select process is in place.

In short, get your application submitted asap. Expect for your application to be reviews for that June board, but don’t be surprised if you’re contacted sooner. Similarly, your recruiter should be informing you if there are any changes.

All specific details and situational questions suggest you ask your recruiter.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and provide information.
You're correct. There is an ISEL for CW but not IP. Unfortunately, I won't qualify for CW ISEL. (48 OAR, 50 required)
My application has been submitted. My recruiter has been great with everything. We went from start to finish (submitting) in less than a month.
Now, I'm in the "hurry up and wait" phase.

Anything to update on your situation?

Heard recently from my recruiter that the 30 June board was delayed to 11 August, did you hear that too?
Don't put that news on me. Ugh. I'll have to reach out to my recruiter today to see if he has heard anything.
Did your recruiter send you anything official stating as such?

The 07APR25 proboard schedule indicates that the next convene date is still set for 30JUN2025.

It’s possible they were referencing the wrong date on the schedule. When you click on the link, the first IWC board shown convenes in August 2024, which is obviously in the past.

My recruiter actually doubled down on a text earlier. I didn't get a specific date for submission, I just texted back 5PM today but her initial text about it was 11 August. Would it be cool if you asked your recruiter about it too?

I just asked my recruiter to clarify "ONLY BDCP EXCEPT SWO-O, OCEANO, AND IP". My interpretation is that only SWO-IWC, OCEANO, and IP will be reviewed. Meaning, no INTEL, CW, CWE, MCWO.
That is exactly what they mean when they put a note like this, or I-SEL only, or sometimes they will specify only certain designators.

SWO-O is SWO-Oceanography, there are no other SWO options that pull from OCS.

Okay cool. That makes more sense; it's SWO-OCEANO.
I'm applying for IP, so I should be good.

I was trying to apply MCWO / CWO / IPO in that order. I've been tired of waiting with the pushbacks and maybe I should just apply for that IP board date coming up. I'll ask my recruiter about it/weigh my options
