Letters of Recommendation

Did anyone send letters of recommendation with their package? My wife is submitting her OCS package, and her DIV O told her to contace our last CO and see if he would give a Letter of Rec. I see nothing in the 1420.1A about this, so I'm wondering how much it would weigh to the board? Thanks.

She needs to do at least three, one must be in here prefered designator, and they dont have to be a board. It is in the 1420 on page 4-9, section 5, parts a and b. I have heard they are very influential on the board, so I was told that the more senior the better, and this goes hand in hand with a good CO rec. Good luck.

Sarnav- I think you are talking about the interviewer's appraisal. I am talking specifically about a letter of recommendation, for example, from a prior CO of your unit. Have you ever heard of this before? I'm new to this whole OCS thing.

My mistake, it seems a lot of people use the two terms interchangeably, at least at my command. I got a interview appraisal sheet from my last two CO's, plus the 3 ones from my O board in my designator of choice. Dont know if it will help out any, but it covers my entire carrer in the Navy so it shouldnt hurt. If you want the OCS contact in Millington's direct number I can pm it to you, dont want to post personal info on the web.
