DCA "Don't give up the ship"
Hey Everyone i thought you all might find this interesting. As some of you know I got one hell of a sacre a few days ago cbecause my recuiter told me that i couldn't be a pilot case my left eye is 20/40. So i was looking inot PRK and i e-mailed NOMI about it this is what i got back it is ome pretty interesing stuff.

Dear Sean,

You have been told semi good gouge. In actuality, if your vision is 20/40
uncorrected, then currently, you will be given a conditional waiver for your
vision at NOMI. BUMED is in the works to release new vision standards where
20/40 is the cutoff. If you currently meet the 20/40 uncorrected visual
acuity standard, there is no need for you to undergo PRK and it is NOT
recommended to pursue such a treatment. The procedure has been around for
over 13 years, and has been approved for active duty members, but was NOT
applicable to designated aviation personnel till last march,2000. The
accession study message, for SNA's and SNFO's was not approved until Oct00.
Guidelines for PRK are only if the student does not meet current standards,
you are within standards if your visual acuity uncorrected is truly 20/40.
There are also refractive error limits, which will more than likely be
expanded from the -1.00 myopia to -1.50 and astigmatism from -0.75 to -1.00.
The message has NOT been released yet, but we here at NAMI are going by the
new proposed standards and waivering anyone who does not meet current vision
standards but meets new proposed standards.

Oh i also just want to tell vicki tahnks for all your help I really apricate it!!!
