I really hope (and am pretty sure) he knows what VV is. I as a SWO knew what it is.

For the real answer, who knows. Why was he flying caged in the first place? That's just dumb.

Ok, that wasn't a real answer. But I don't ever fly an approach caged, unless it's HUD limited and then I cage it until it starts making sense.
