Did not consider how far out these things (sand storms) can reach but it makes sense.

For those in the know, is there a particular reason he caged the VV in close?

For the real answer, who knows. Why was he flying caged in the first place? That's just dumb.

Ok, that wasn't a real answer. But I don't ever fly an approach caged, unless it's HUD limited and then I cage it until it starts making sense.
