Ok,

So I, a know-nothing USNA soon-to-be grad just got an NFO billet from being a future SWO (and I am glad for it)...

I'm going to be in the market for someplace to live soon. Can anyone give me a good place to live, what's in the area, etc...

As of right now, it looks like I'm reporting in Sept., but its not final yet (no orders yet).

Try Austin Wood Apts out the back gate. It was great because it was pretty nice and close to base.

Don't sweat it. There are plenty of your ring-knocker friends in P'Cola that will help you out when the time comes.

Stoddart Place just out the back gate is ghetto-ish. I lived there during API and wasn't that pleased. It's one of those income adusted govn't programs apts, but it was the only place I found that would take dogs over 25 lbs. Plus I knew I was only gonna be there for 8 weeks or so.

I had several buds that lived in Fairfield lakes and liked it.

I lived in Fairfield Lakes and liked it. Its close to base, but a little farther from downtown and the beach, but not bad at all.

I've had those types in the front office. They get made fun of to their face just like everybody else from the Boat School.

I used to live at Kings Mill Apts up on North Davis Hwy....just around the corner from Governor's Gate. I think both places are (were?) nice. This was back in '99 though, so it could be a ghetto now for all I know.

Kings Mill hasn't turned ghetto. It's still a nice property - staff is extremely nice and helpful!
