...and how about "300"? :) A few hundred Greeks fighting to the death, against hundreds of thousands of Persians?

Not to mention the ever-present threat of Persian executioners with saws for forearms. Or learning that Xerxes was a flaming homo with a piercing fetish.

It was excellent. I got teary eyed several times throughout the movie...and I got angered only once. Those of you who had the pleasure of seeing it will know which scene pissed me off.

I watched my son deal with that same asshole at the begining of his trip to Iraq. Unfortunately he was a young Lance Corporal then and he ended up being undressed in public right down to his shirt stays. That TSA guy knew exactly what he was doing too. It bothers me to this day. The only reason I didn't end up in jail is because I knew it would make a bad situation worse.

Taking Chance is GREAT show and well done by HBO.

I think of "honor" and "overcoming the odds" for military men striving against the odds (at least to a degree) when I think of:

Blackhawk Down ...
Letters from Iwo Jima ...
Hell in Korea ... (let's see if you can find that one)
Band of Brothers ...
Bridges at Toko-Ri .......

There's more ... this is just a short list. :)

Don't forget:

30 Seconds Over Tokyo

Half of me is pissed that they use a fallen Marine as a prop in their quest to make money.

The other half of me is glad they can tell stories like these.

Can't decided which I am...

Include the LTCOL in the "they"; I'm sure he didn't write it for free. My personal opinion is: if the media is portraying the military in a positive light then that's a good thing. I haven't seen this yet but the trailer looks like a film that honors this particular Marine's memory.

One of my favorites is "The Best Years of Our Lives" with Frederic March, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, and Harold Russell, released in 1946. Won seven Academy Awards, and is still very relevant today.

I saw the same thing at Pensacola Regional going through security. The serviceman going having to remove his ribbons was the Skipper of NASP. I had to get new shooting badges because I was carrying on my hang-up bag and was made to leave them behind. It sucked.
