Yeah I've been wondering where the hell the message is too. Our command frocked those of us who are in the ROTC/USNA 08 group.
You need to stay a JG I think.
I thought it was illegal to frock officers......maybe I have been misinformed though...
We just did it for logistical reasons. We're all coming back from deployment on different dates and then going on POM so there wouldn't be any time to do it until the end of June.
Not authorized, yes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I was "frocked" to LT a week (maybe more...can't remember) early because all 6 of us were getting underway on 3 different ships. Sometimes it's just easier to pin stuff on than worry about official dates.
I guess it makes up for not pinning on O-4 until a week after I rated it. But any self-respecting O-3 would prolong that as long as possible (as long as you're still getting paid O-4 pay).
It's the LT promotion message, I think the LT demotion message comes out as a PERSFOR

Don't do that. It doesn't end well for you. Ask me how I know sometime in the p-way.
I was a single LT pinner, since I was OCS and my message came out late, like the 1st or 2nd of my promotion month. I was in Iraq at the time, and no one seemed to say a word about doing anything, so on like the 15th of the month, I was tired of wearing my only JG flight suit, and I asked my friend to just do my oath out back on top of the bunker with some black n milds and near-beer. Worked well.
Truth be told, your command will take care of you, especially if it's a big group of promoters. If not, and you're alone and unafraid on det, just get a buddy to do it or just wear the rank.
Just so you know, there are two messages: first is an ALNAV (I think?) showing the "eligible LTJG" list, and the second is a regular message showing the promotion list. The former isn't a formal declaration for promotion, the latter is.
