Wasn't at '91. Had to fly a trip I couldn't drop. You have a point, but it wasn't really taken like a "been there done that" cruise patch at the time. It was as much in support of those that were and the pending dragnet. I don't recall seeing anyone over LT sporting the patch, inside or out. But I had more identity with the lessor known "I survived the Tailhook 91 witch hunt" patch. That was understandably banned as well, as it depicted CNO Kelso setting fire to an aviator at the stake. As you know, we were all suspect for simply wearing wings. I narrowly avoided an interview, had to read and swear to things regarding not only me but my subordinates ( I was the OPS O at the time). The old "Witch hunt" patch would be more appropriate, but somehow it would seem like the retired 59 year old with thinning hair wearing skater shorts, backwards trucker hat and rocking a soul patch. Just doesn't work on several levels.

Would it be in violation of some code for the old retired O-5 to sew the patch into the inside of my jacket at such a late point? Poser? Illegitimate? Or honorific of the ongoing struggle?
Just a mid-life crisis............like buying a Porsche or marrying a 22 year old.

The quote log?
Green book (now red and black I guess) of silly shit folks have said that was deemed worthy enough to be written down for historical/hysterical purposes.

Usually banned because it's a record of all the off color stuff officers have said. I imagine paranoid COs could see it as a record of how terrible of a culture they let fester within their command regardless of the fact that the average brown shoe would say similar things in church.

Oh, of course. We had one. Seriously, banned? Ours just laid around the ready room. On the SDO desk when one of the watches cleaned up a bit. Sad.
