Jal + dal (nwa) - aa = ???

I find this somewhat interesting as NORTHWEST AIRLINES was heavily involved in the creation of JAL and actually started flying a JAL wet lease & trained & qualified the early JAPAN AIR LINES pilot, dispatch, and mechanic cadre ... and now JAL is seriously considering 'returning to the fold' as a partner in the DAL Sky Team Alliance of which NWA represents the major player in the Pacific long-haul market.

If JAL bolts from the AMERICAN AIRLINES web ... it could easily mean the end of AA in the Japanese (and probably most of the Pacific) market ... magnified by the fact that NWA (now in the guise of DAL) and PAN AMERICAN (for many years in the guise of UNITED) are still the only two US airlines to possess the valuable 'fifth freedom' rights in the Pacific ...

American Airlines fights to keep Japan Airlines as partner

The more things change ... :)
