I just got done watching a little bit of the TV show JAG and I was just wondering if anybody else thinks that all the Tomcat air battle scenes are the same exact footage as that in TOP GUN. Just bored and thought I'd throw that out there, because I know there are people on this forum watching some JAG, even if it is just to look at Cathrine Bell.

most of it looks like clips from movies made by paramount, clear and present danger, hunt for red october, top gun, etc. still there's only so many clips they can use over and over and over again. and yes i only watch because of Catherine Bell.....mamasita!

You mean you don't watch it for its extremely realistic aproach in depicting the Navy and Marine Corps!? Man, that show is so realistic, all women in the Marines are Hot!

My favorite line so far is Harm making a ball call landing the C-130 "hercules ball point 5" followed by the "roger ball." On a show that is seemingly so unrealistic, is was funny to see comms like that.

Well, my husband thinks I'm hot, does that count?

Then again, I'm not in the military yet.

No. We'll be the judge of that. Post your pics so we can decide where you rate on the CatherineBellometer of military female hotness.

We are all aware that a C-130 was once actually landed on the deck of the USS Forrestal, right? :)

PS - And yes, it did take off again too!

Coupla' crazy Chair Force Captains in 1969 I think. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks...Did they use JATO rockets to get it off the deck? I'm skeptical it got off that carrier with anything less than a crane.

Hmmm, I think I'd rate about 0.1 out of 10 on a CatherineBellometer.

Yes, but let's ask the question we all have been saying to ourselves but are too afraid to say it outloud because we know how rediculous we would sound. Don't these people have PRD's? Are they not up for PCS orders? What gives?

I think they rotate when the show gets canceled, which means "Harm" should be getting ready for his "challenging and rewarding" disassociated sea tour about now.
As an aside, both JAG and NCIS occasionally film here at Point Mugu. They drag our jets over and wet the concrete and put up this wooden "Enterprise" superstructure, and voila...insta carrier! They also use our enlisted guys as extras, sort of as an MWR-type good deal thing. NCIS was here two weeks ago--Mark Harmon stood right next to me, but he didn't ask this "real American hero" for an autograph. I didn't ask for his, either, but he is a real nice man. But our secretary keeps giving him our Playboy bunny T-shirts for free. We did sell $400 worth of geedunk to the production crew, though.
Speaking of NCIS, the black Tomcat, Vandy 1, which has had the traditional VX-4/9 Bunny logo back on it for the last year, was in the shot, and they had to put a big black cover on the tail. Good thing, too--we like to keep the Bunny thing kinda quiet, so that all the political point-makers/protestors won't come out of the woodwork. However, NCIS hasn't used the jet with my name on it yet, natch.

And finally, as one of our pilots here at the det said: "Only Hollywood would make a TV series about one of the most incompetent investigative services on Earth."

And I thought it was Hennessy, IL. But seriously, would you expect anything else by an aero Illini?
