Ive Taken the ASTB Now what?

You fill out a bunch of forms, the longest is the security form, you have to go back 7 years, addresses, people that knew you there, old jobs you had, with references, schools, make sure to have original transcripts. Have your character and job references/letters of application get started. Send in your application, wait around and pray for pro-rec. Wait around. You'll go to MEPS and do the PRT if you haven't yet. Once you get pro-rec, you wait around some more for a final select letter, then they'll tell you your ship out date.
That's basically how it went for me, I think there is a good post here where someone listed the steps they went through and the dates they did it so you can get a gauge on what to expect. Good luck!

hurry up and wait, the whole process takes a while your estimate seems reasonable depends on how fast you do paper work
There is no definitive gauge of how long the process will take you from first contact to swearing in. There have been applicants who have done first contact to swearing in in as little as 2 months or less. A lot of it depends on how rapidly you complete your end of the application. I took around 3-4 months because I procrastinated and I had to take the PRT twice.
But from the time I took the ASTB it took about 3 months to get accepted.
If you aren't in a hurry then you can take your time. If you are in a hurry buckle down. Once you have everything done it's just a matter of your recruiter sending it to the boards. Then the true wait starts.
Professionaly Recommended. It means they have selected you. Following some processing of your paperwork, prt, meps, etc. you will receive a final selection and then you will swear in.
The sooner the better for me, I don't like to sit around and wait.
Ha then you may not like this process. I got all my stuff done pretty quickly but switched designators from Nuke to SNA/NFO/SWO....so my entire process was about 9 months long and counting, but I have a Pro-Rec, so its not as bad as before.
Waiting for the board to meet, and then realizing the board as met and your future has been decided and there's nothing you can do to find out or change it, and then the wait to find out the results. OH and then as everyone else finds out, it seems like your NRD is the only one that doesnt know....and then...the phone call comes.
"Hurry up and Wait" or "Standby to standby" are two phrases you will become well acquainted with my friend. Good luck though, you're in good company

I realize that I have to wait regarding that aspect, however, I should have clarified. I don't want my process to be slow due to my lack of eagerness to speed it up as much as I am able to. Having said that, I will do my best to get my end done then will do what waiting I have to do, that which I can't hurry along.
