While terrible, you can't compare the two.

"Hey! Let's build out homes out of tin!"...bunch of people die... "Hey, let's do it again!"... bunch of people die... "That really sucks! Let's do it again!".

Then again... with all the trailer parks here... maybe they are comparable.

-exactly. it's amusing in a sick sort of way...where i grew up (lots of tornadoes), there is one particular county (Boone county) that is known for having a disproportionately high number of trailer parks. it seemed everytime there was severe weather, a tornado would hit there. we always used to joke about seeing the little tornado symbols on the map head east, forgot that they missed boone county, stop, and head back west (with big teeth and what-not).

Ivan is heading in at about 15 mph....that means if michael phelps had on flippers he could outrun it. oh wait, new idea for Beijing '08...phelps vs. thorpe vs. typhoon in the 100 mile freestyle.

I once saw a webpage that was a scientific discussion of why tornados target trailer parks. Friggin HILARIOUS.

i'd love to see that if you ever find it. one of my favorite tv shows is Storm Stories....there was one with a guy who was hiding under an overpass (bad idea, by the way) when an F5 (about 330 mph winds) and a mile wide base went right through...the guy got sucked out, thrown around in the air and "deposited" in the ground about 100 yards away....and lived.

Well, if this does ravage Florida again, I say shoot the looters. It's legal in a state of emergency and I think it's justified.

Sorry, boomer, I should put insert any "southern state here", but I can say that becuase I used to live in a trailer.

i always thought Boone county should sell trailers with variable sweep wings just to see how far one could travel without touching ground when the next tornado hit. can you imagine all the family members harnessed into the sofa with flight helmets on? there's more where that came from. maybe im just a sick person.
