Is this going to hurt my chances?

Hello. I'm going to be a 16-year old junior in high school. I just quit a marching band program because it interfered with other activities, plus it just plain sucked. However, I have a >4.0 GPA, and I am still involved in other things. Will this hurt my chances of becoming an officer?

If I were to become an officer I would like to fly, but not jets. Will this hurt me too?

No. In fact, you should worry about being admitted to college, which quitting marching band shouldn't affect. Do extracurruiculars that you enjoy and excel at, and it will shot.

I always hated tools who say, joined the yearbook so they had something else to put on a college application.

Are you kidding me? Who told you to quit the marching band? I don't know a real warrior that didn't spend 4 or more years excelling in the High School Band. Most of the guys in my wardroom still played their instruments and we would incorporate them into our military drill out on the flight line when not actually flying or ground job work.

I recommend you get back into the band ASAP; then work to become first chair. Second chair=first loser! Also, make the time for other activities; the best pilots were in band, first chair, and Dungeon Masters of the D&D club; they just made the time. With school, band and D&D you will have no time for those dream stealers know as girls; good thing.

I hope I helped.

Sincerely,

I quit marching band my 10th grade year too...and I'm not flying jets. That makes me your huckleberry.

No seriously, don't say you don't want to fly jets. You may excel and there's a slot for jets...and your Navy needs you to fly jets. Just do your best and keep your nose clean.

I don't know about Aviation, but I never met a SPECWAR officer that wasn't A/V club and Yearbook at least three years. What kind of gouge are you spreading?

Not yet, If you can prove that you took Clarinet lesons privately and were dorm champion in Everquest, they will overlook the violin. Why would drop Violin, the Orchestra Girls were fine!

They wouldn't let me play with anything sharp, so I didn't join. :p

I live near Larkspur, CO Where they have a huge festival every year. I am afraid to take my 5 year old son since he already thinks that everything is a weapon.
