Injuries and OCS

I’ve been on here and YouTube reading up about the PT portion of OCS and from what I’ve read, it’s a bit intense in the beginning and kinda decreases after about a month. That said, you think one could get thru OCS with an injury? I’m having a nagging knee injury recently and working to rehab it prior to OCS, but is it possible to kinda push thru an injury at OCS? Or if they catch you limping, are they gonna roll you? FWIW I can pass my PRT with my bad knee but do you all think that having a limp or being a bit slower during daily PT sessions would get me rolled or worse?

You have to realize if you DOR, for any reason, whether it was your choice or not, you may not be able to come back. This profession is not guaranteed and it can be taken away at any point at any of stage of the process. IF YOU ARE NOT READY IN ANY WAY, request for a later date

Stop, all stop here.

Get your knee seen by a doctor or even a specialist, like now. Come up with a treatment plan and if that involves delaying the OCS process so be it.

It’s incredibly risky attempting to try to go to OCS nowhere near 100% ready.
Copy. I have started a regimen to strengthen my lower body. Been working on it for about 6 weeks now. Being on deployment is making it tough to do much else. Can’t really get imaging done. Been a lot of RICE method and strengthening exercises.

I had a nagging knee issue for many years, it ended up needing surgery to fix, the longer you wait the worse it could be so do what @FormerRecruitingGuru said. If it is an issue they can delay until you are 100%, but if you go to OCS and get sent home you will have to reapply.

Yup, just to jump on this train, I had an injury in flight school that I soldiered through as I already had a few performance hits against me. Stupid young me thought any more "issues" and it could be bad. Looking bad now I want to smack myself upside the head and get it fixed when it happened instead of muscling through it and requiring surgery down the road to fix it. The Navy is only part of your life, you have to live with that knee forever....

Go see your PCM, the answer might be something as simple as rest. Or, it might involve getting it looked at more.

I appreciate the insight from you all. I’ve reached out to my PT back at home to schedule sessions as soon as I get back from deployment next month. As for pushing my OCS arrival date to the right, if it comes down to it, is that something that I contact Mr. Celestin to do? Or would I go thru my command?

Either or, but having your CoC do it can show how serious of an issue it is.
