Info on Places to stay in DC

I need to stay in downtown DC for a conference. I'm looking at the Navy Lodge or BOQ at Bolling AFB. Anyone ever stayed there? I won't have a car and need to be able to walk to the Metro. Is Bethesda BOQ a better option? I'm trying to minimize cost, as this is personal travel.

Thanks

I've stayed at the Navy Lodge on Bolling and also the BOQ on the Navy Yard. The Navy Lodge is a little further away but it has a kitchenette. The Navy Yard has a nice galley. If this is personal travel, I'd suggest the BOQ, you'll save a few bones.

The metro is within walking distance to Bolling AFB but it is through a very rough neighborhood called Barry Farms. It was named after former mayor Marion Barry. Let's just say it is an appropriate legacy for him. I would highly discourage you from staying there without a car. Very highly discourage.

Where is the conference? I would say Bethsda is a much better choice, the metro is across the street from the hospital and it is in a decent area.

Ft. Meyer or Belvoir BOQ or Andrews and pay for a taxi to the metro.

Fuckitt....just treat yourself and stay at the Willard or 4 seasons downtown, and then go to Charlie Palmer's steakhouse. Give me a buzz and I'll meet you there.

I wouldn't stay at Bolling if you don't have a car. As previously stated, it's not in the best neighborhood. If you do have a car, it's not bad at all.

One of the guys who used to work for me went to a school at Bethesda and said he really liked it and that it was easy to get downtown on the Metro. I'd go there if I had to do it again.
