I worked with a guy who got that gig in '07 or so and was wondering about promotions when he first got it and found out he was going to have to compete with HR folks, glad to see it became its own designator.

The only other PMP I know was a fellow JO in my squadron, and unfortunately he was a jackass. My wife also disliked his wife after first meeting her, and she gets along with almost everyone. Still a professor last I checked, likely still a jackass. Glad you are getting the gig to balance things out CommodoreMid.

If you like running (or just hiking), Point Lobos park is great. So are 10 other places around Monterey...it was a great 18 months of my life.

@Brett327, the program was designed for USNA, and when I was eligible, there was a limit to the # of O-6 billets at NWC/NPS. The threat was you'd have to move to Annapolis if you made O-6, and there was a solid chance of that.
