:) Big congratulations...my first was born 8 years ago while I was in API (not recommended...I barely remember her first year). Words of warning:

1) They do eventually sleep through the night
2) There is a whole 'nother world of expensive products aimed at new parents (toys, furniture, clothes). This is the first step in a lifetime of your checkbook being drained.
3) Make notes as much as you can and take lots of pictures the first few years...it will become a blur and you'll kick yourself you didn't write some of that cute stuff down.

I wanted to open this up to any words of wisdom from other SNA parents or parents in the fleet. Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the club... I'm gonna be a dad in a couple months... stoked and nervous at the same time.

Congratulations! I've got three myself. You sacrifice a lot, but you get so much more back. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Golden Rule: Do NOT let her stop breastfeeding... As long as she does the feeding, she wakes up in the middle of the night and does her Mom stuff; but the minute you go bottle, it is yours and there is no going back!! Sure you will be tempted to help and she will be tired but you have to trust me on this one (I got 2---And twice failed on the prior mentioned--Thus spent too many nights awake) Congrats!

Congrats man. If you have an awful mother in law, lay down the rules early and quick. YOUR kid. YOU da man. If she's REALLY NICE, she can babysit..:) I learned this the hard way as my son got snatched like a ripe mango by a tree-flailing howler monkey.

Thanks to everyone for all the tid bits of advice and funny a$$ things like this. Luckily the mother-in-law isnt that bad, plus she lives across the country.

Also BOOM BOOM, I will make sure and keep that advice too. Ill have to do some research to sound legit when Im selling that, but I will make it happen!

Thanks again everyone, 8 months to go but Im sure it will fly.

Just another frustrated observer.
I've got three of my own, one senior in College, one senior in High School, (waiting to hear from the Naval Academy on her Appointment) and one 8th Grader (we spread them out.)

Advice would be, just 'cause your a man and Marine and all that, don't think a daughter is the end of the world. I wanted to have about 4 sons, and when my daughter came along I found out just how cool it can be to have a girl. She's more like me than either of the boys, but much prettier (thank God!)

Advice for down the road, if you make them behave and be respectful when they're two or three you have much less trouble with them when they're teenagers.

Enjoy, they grow up way too fast.
