I never knew....

But still curious to know, where would you prefer the position of the stick? There must be some pros and cons. Speaking of the Blue Angels, I saw the show today here in San Francisco. One of the best shows Ive been to. Flawless and I get a better kick watching for errors rather than actually watching the show. The Nimitz came in and did some cat shots and traps in the San Francisco bay!

Since the vast majority of folks on AW have never flown an F-16, it's kind of a difficult hypothetical to answer. It's like asking us if we like flying the space shuttle.

Yeah maybe I was just over thinking this whole "joystick" thing. But still do not understand the concept of putting that damn joystick in such an akward position... haha

It doesnt seem all that awkward, I mean if you've evr driven standard, or used a computer mouse. And there has to be something good about it since they are putting it in the JSF.

Sidestick just might be the future??? Airbus has a side stick and keyboard (I know for sure) on there 320s and the 380. My bud (Former Tomcat Driver) loves the A-320 sidestick... So who knows? I know it takes less room and the yoke gets in the way of my PORN so maybe the Air Force has something here???? Oh wait.. It is the Air Force they would never allow PORN but neither would today's Navy...

The canopy opens the opposite way, why is that?

I've enjoyed porn in my jet. That MATT terminal laptop is good for something after all. :D

In the STOVL variant, an auto-eject function allows pilots an unusually fast ejection when required.

I'll be interested to see how many Marines are "auto-ejected" by computer glitches.

Yeah, I can see that "option" not being employed too often. Reminds me of the ejction systems the Soviets had for some of their helos. It relied on a MRB jettison system that resulted in a few uncommanded MRB mishaps. I guess at that point, you kind of have to eject.

#1 How does any Naval Aviator expect to pull any ladies in that flight helmet? Haha

#2 I know the Jsf 35 has some of the most technologically advanced avionic systems, but does anyone truly like the design of the -35. I would compare the Jsf 35 to todays muscle cars. 1969 camaros and chevelles were awesome looking cars. Todays muscle cars look like Toyotas. Especially the X-32! Which thank god did not get selected.
On a side note I saw the f-22 demo today. The raw power put out by those two 35,000 lbs, which is twice as much as many of today's fighters, was UNREAL! If anyone wants to talk jets especially -35 I may open up a new thread.
