Bottom line - Don't mess with a mom!

F'ing great that they turned the tide of this battle. I'm sorry they had to kill the guy, only because though they had every right to and I would have done the exact same thing, I expect that it will haunt them for a while. I couldn't care less that this one douche bag is dead, I just hope their family recovers OK from it.

These thugs were probably expecting to dominate the scene since they had guns. The moment these people showed they were not afraid, the bad guys got scared. Nothing but two bullies...one bully now :)

Never give up, never surrender.

"probably won't be charged"

Yea, you can bet on that. Even if they were charged, there is not a jury in Texas that would convict them.

Corpus validated everything I thought about Texans - unless they're A&M girls and hot, I hate them.

This story, however, definitely gives them a +1 in my book.

Wait, those exist?

But seriously, good on this family. That's at LEAST one future statistic that isn't going to be because this POS is 6 feet under instead of back on the street. Hopefully the 2nd learned himself a damned lesson.

Don't get your hopes up. The type that break into someone's home to rob/rape, etc at gunpoint typically don't learn many lessons. I hope the next Texan to get a shot at him (pun intended ;)) takes care of business.

You're probably right, although getting almost killed may be an eye-opener. Perhaps I'm overly optimistic. Recidivism I'm sure is very common amongst these scum.

Hopefully they don't get some asinine suit filed against them. Hopefully the castle doctrine in Texas protects them from losing everything for defending themselves.

I don't think there is a clearer case of self defense (based on the article) than this one. In no way, shape, or form, do I think either the husband or the wife did anything wrong.

However... No matter how ludicrous the case, no matter how seemingly unwindable or pointless, there IS a lawyer who'll take it, somewhere, some how.

After hearing some of the other notable cases in texas (dude shoots intruders of neighbors property) which got acquitted, I sincerely doubt this will even go to the grand jury, and if it does it will CERTAINLY not go to trial.

I am referring to a civil suit, the families of the burglars filing a claim against the homeowners. Some castle doctrine laws specifically protect people from this, I believe Florida does.
