IMHO....maybe torture does not get intelligence out of our enemy...maybe it does....one persons opinion is not enough to swade me one way or the other.....but what about this.....If a terrorist KNOWS he WILL NOT be tortured, mistreated, or have any harmful good ole' fashioned beating upon him if he is captured...then what the hell are they worried about.....How about if they know when they are captured they will be beat the ***t out of....wouldnt they possibly be inclined to be more cooperative??

Really? I could've sworn that our "enemies" (who are our enemies btw?) are adept at using propaganda to recruit and otherwise further their cause. I'm certainly sure that the mileage they would get out of such a thing would outweigh any gains made by employing it.

There are certain strategies that can be used in this area to provide something along the lines of incorrect information, things that can be used to humiliate certain "respected" leaders of certain causes.

Speaking of which does anyone know what Arafat died of? It was widely reported that he died of AIDS/HIV. Strange, who would want to discredit him? And can you imagine if people out there were launching active campaigns to discredit other "bad guys?" I mean you might be able to actually strike fear and concern to these places without firing a single shot...

It's BECAUSE this GWOT is difficult that we should do things the right way. If we punt our national values because they get in the way of fighting wars, maybe this liberal democracy thing was a passing hobby, like ham radio.
