How to kill yourself (almost)

That didn't seem very powerful. I don't know much about grenades, but I would have been worried about shrapnel standing that close.

Nah, that's about right. They should be damn glad they were next to the waterhole because the guy who knew what was going on didn't have time to get the jackass outside of a few meters. The blast would have been much more impressive if it was above water.

Any chance that it could have just been a flash bang grenade or one that doesn't throw shrapnel?

Totally, especially considering that they didn't appear to have the proper accoutrements to be throwing frags anyway.

The guy in the white shirt was literally pulling the guy in orange away from the grenade. Would a normal person really need that kind of encouragement?

I'm assuming that the guy who had to be pulled away just sort of froze up. Also, he's apparently working with an IQ in the sub-70 range, so we shouldn't be too harsh on the man.

Yeah, "can I pull the pin with my teeth?" Would have been funny to have the handle break his tooth.

I actually had one of my Marines try that once... thank God it was a one of those blue dummie grenades.

My 2c is that it could have been a frag grenade.... but as mike said, that stuff can still throw shrapnel even when detonated in water... so you never know. Most grenades, even ones that aren't qualified "fragmentation" are still going to explode around a metallic casing... which means ---> shrapnel (I don't think I'm saying anything new here). It sounded like the cameraman had a british or s. african accent. Gotta love the black market.
