I remember when my X and I were doing a lot of competition back in the 80's and the insurance company queried me on the number and value of all the guns we had. Had two big gun safes stuffed. There were more than 30 match tuned 1911's plus the international match guns (hers) plus all the other collectables, hunting guns, plinkers, etc. Over 150 of them. A lot of it was for investment with extra funds. As needs arose they got sold off.
Now I'm down to a more reasonable level with 3 pistol calibers, 2 rifle calibers, and 2 shotgun calibers. .45acp being the most used/shot.

USAA will cut a valuable personal property policy for art, jewelry, and/or guns. Covers against all losses and it's cheap.

500 7.92 x 57 (8MM Mauser to feed two Mauser 98's)

Whole lot of .17 "stuff" for the groundhogs.

200 .308 heavy stuff, not sure what it is, so long ago I loaded.

Whole bunch of brass, about ten tins of power (various) whole bunch of bullets and primers.

Thought that was the question, but I am ready.

Don't let the law know you have that much...you'll end up on the front page with the ATF kicking down your door at 2 AM as a radical firearms nutjob with several thousand rounds of cop killing assault weapon ammunition!

... ATF kicking down your door ...

I know, remember Belou (sp) PG county.

But I survived the 24/7 George Tenet security Detail encampment on my lawn those 6 long years. George knew, not sure the Security Detail knew. Bunch of rascals.:(:(:(
