How important is bringing a car?

I'm headed to OCS on Sept. 14th and planned on flying down, since I'm coming from Northeast PA. Over the last couple of weeks I have been considering driving down (about 20 hours non-stop). Is it worth it?

If you dont have a car here you are stranded. You will be relegated to waiting on taxis and bumming rides. I have been stationed here in Pcola several times and let me tell ya..Without a Car it SUCKS. If you can drive it, do it. NAS is pretty barren on the weekends.

I would definitly bring your car, when I was down there, the guys without cars were suck'n big time cause there is nothing as far as the social life within walking distance from the base (from what I remember). I would take it down, get your stickers when you arrive at the base, and just park it down on the sea wall across the street from the OCS barracks and be sure to get a car cover. Or else the Sea Gulls will have a field day using your car as a low level air to ground target for all weather anti-car operations.
